12th India-Japan Science and Technology Conference: International Conference of Frontier Areas of Science and Technology, ICFAST-2022 was successfully conducted by the School of Physics (in coordination with all science schools) in association with the Indian JSPS Alumni Association during 09-10 September 2022 at the University of Hyderabad.
Prof. B. J. Rao, Honorable Vice-Chancellor, UoH, inaugurated the conference, along with His Excellency (HE) Mr. Satoshi Suzuki, Ambassador of Japan in India, HE Mr. Sanjay Kumar Verma, Ambassador of India in Japan, Mr. Sugino Tsuyoshi, JSPS President, Prof. K. C. James Raju, Dean School of Physics & Chairman of the conference, Prof. D. Sakthi Kumar, Indian JSPS Alumni Association (IJAA) Chairman & Prof. Utpal Bora, IJAA General Secretary, and Dr. Venkataiah Gorige, Convenor, ICFAST-2022.
Prof. Ryōji Noyori, Nobel Laureate from Nagoya University, Japan, and Prof. G. Ravindra Kumar, TIFR, Mumbai, India, delivered keynote addresses at the conference. In two parallel sessions, 36 invited talks were given by distinguished speakers from India and Japan. More than 250 posters were presented, out of which 25 posters were awarded the best poster awards. A student group coordinated by Prof. J. Anuradha from the S N School has performed an excellent cultural program to showcase our rich Indian culture to the delegates.
“The conference provided a platform to exchange scientific ideas and also helped to open up possible collaborations. The Japanese delegates from JST and NEDO informed students of the opportunities in their universities and encouraged them to apply for higher education in Japan” .
