The University of Hyderabad (UoH) and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Hyderabad, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today to establish a Centre of Excellence in Digital Twin Technology (DTT) Lab under HAL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. This partnership is backed by a CSR grant of ₹5.0 crore from HAL and aims to foster advanced research, innovation, and skill development in the field of digital twin technologies.
The MoU was signed by Mr. D. Rama Manohara Rao, Executive Director, HAL-Hyderabad and Dr. Devesh Nigam, Registrar, University of Hyderabad in the presence, Prof. B.J. Rao, Vice Chancellor, UoH. The signing ceremony witnessed the presence of Prof. Samrat Sabat, Director, Research and Development Cell; Prof. M. Ghanashyam Krishna; and Prof. Siba Kumar Udgata from University of Hyderabad, and Mr.T. Srikant, DGM (Finance) and Mr. Suryakant Rout, DGM (HR) from HAL.
The major objectives of this collaboration include:
1. Advancing Research and Innovation: Promote both fundamental and applied research in digital twin systems, cyber-physical systems, predictive analytics, and advanced simulation technologies.
2. Skill Development and Capacity Building: Train students, researchers, and industry professionals in cutting-edge technologies to build a skilled workforce for future-ready industries.
3. Facilitating Industry-Academia Synergy: Provide a collaborative platform for joint R&D projects, technology demonstrations, and industrial problem-solving.
4. Creating a Knowledge and Outreach Hub: Organize certificate courses, symposiums, and awareness programs to disseminate knowledge and encourage academic-industry dialogue.
The new facilities will be housed in the Institution of Eminence – Interdisciplinary Research Centre (IDC) building and will significantly enhance the university’s infrastructure and capabilities in Digital Twin technologies. Prof B.J. Rao, Vice Chancellor, UoH and by Mr. D. Rama Manohara Rao, Executive Director of HAL congratulated the team and wished all success for the proposed Centre.
This MoU marks a significant milestone in leveraging CSR resources for national research and educational advancement. It reflects the joint vision of HAL and UoH to contribute meaningfully to Nation’s technological self-reliance and innovation ecosystem.
