The University of Hyderabad (UoH), an Institution of Eminence and a leading centre for higher learning and research in India, has made a significant mark by featuring in the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2025.

For the first time, UoH has been ranked among the top 601–800 universities globally, showcasing its commitment to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The THE Impact Rankings evaluates universities worldwide for their societal contributions across 17 SDGs, reflecting how institutions are working to address global challenges through research, outreach, and teaching.

UoH has demonstrated strong performance in several key areas:

  • Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6): Ranked 401–600, recognising the University’s initiatives in sustainable water management and sanitation infrastructure.
  • No Poverty (SDG 1), Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8), Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12), Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (SDG 9), and Reduced Inequality (SDG 10) all achieved rankings in the 601–800 band, highlighting the University’s inclusive growth strategies, innovation ecosystem, and commitment to equitable access.

  • Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7) and Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11) were ranked in the 801–1000 range, underlining UoH’s efforts in environmental responsibility and urban sustainability.
  • While working towards ambitious goals such as Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), Gender Equality (SDG 5), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17), UoH continues to build meaningful programs and collaborations, with ranks in the 1000+ range as it strengthens its global partnerships and campus-wide initiatives in these domains.

The University of Hyderabad’s inclusion in the 2025 THE Impact Rankings is a demonstration of its ongoing transformation into a leading institution that not only excels in academics and research but is also committed to a better world.
