The University of Hyderabad proudly celebrated the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025, reaffirming its commitment to promoting health and well-being through yoga. As one of the registered institutions for the nationwide Yoga Sangam initiative—held across over 1,00,000+ locations in India—our university actively participated in the mass synchronized demonstration of the Common Yoga Protocol.

The event was inaugurated by Prof. B. J. Rao, Vice Chancellor, in the presence of Prof. Srinivasa Rao, Dean of Students’ Welfare, and Dr. Anjeneya Swami Kare, In-charge, Department of Physical Education and Sports.

As part of the 100-day countdown to IDY 2025, the Department of Physical Education and Sports organized a series of engaging activities, including Yogasana competitions, essay writing, quiz contests, and an expert lecture on the significance of yoga in daily life.

Winners were felicitated with appreciation prizes during the ceremony.

Following the prize distribution, participants watched the Prime Minister’s address on the eve of IDY 2025, further enhancing the spirit of the celebration. The event concluded with all participants collectively practicing the Common Yoga Protocol in a synchronized manner.

The program was smoothly anchored by Ms. Mahi Sharma from the Department of Mass Communication.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Department of Physical Education and Sports for their meticulous planning and execution of the event. Special thanks are also due to the Public Relations Office (PRO) team, CNF team, Sanitation Department, and the Horticulture Department for their valuable support in ensuring the success of the celebrations.
