A ten-day workshop on Chloroplast Biogenesis and Engineering is being organised from October 7th to 17th in the Department of Plant Sciences, School of Life Sciences, University of Hyderabad, under the leadership of Prof. Rajagopal Subramanyam. The workshop was inaugurated in the gracious presence of Honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. B.J. Rao, along with Dean Prof. Anand K. Kondapi, Head of the Department and the esteemed faculty members of the School of Life Sciences, University of Hyderabad. A special highlight of this program is the participation of Prof. Yuichiro Takahashi from Japan, who is delivering a series of insightful lectures on his pioneering work in photosynthesis.
The workshop also features sessions by eminent scientists, including Prof. B.C. Tripathy and Prof. Anath Das, covering diverse aspects of chloroplast structure, function, and bioengineering. The event is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of chloroplast biology—from fundamental principles to advanced applications. The highlight of the workshop is the hands-on training that participants are receiving under the guidance of Prof. Rajagopal’s lab team, gaining practical experience in major experiments related to photosynthesis and chloroplast function. Through interactive discussions, demonstrations, and lab sessions, the workshop continues to inspire young researchers to explore the fascinating world of plant molecular biology.
