A delegation of Asia University, Taiwan, led by Prof. Dr. Yinghuei Chen, Chair Professor in Language & Literature, Dean, International College & College of Humanities and Social Sciences visited the University of Hyderabad (UoH). The visit was coordinated by Prof. Chetan Srivastava, Director, Office for International Affairs, University of Hyderabad.

The other members of the delegation includes Dr. Jiunn-Jong Wu, Chair Professor in Medical Laboratory Science and Biotechnology, Dean, College of Medical and Health Sciences, Dr. Ching-Hsien Hsu, Chair Professor in Computer Science and Information Engineering, Dean, College of Information and Electrical Engineering,   Dr. Chun-Wei Lin, Special Professor in Business & Management, Dean, College of Management  and  Dr. Charles C.N. Wang, Associate Professor in Bioinformatics and Medical Engineering, Dean, Office of Industry Academia Collaboration.

The interaction was held at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Hall in the Administration Building, which was attended by the Deans/Directors of the University of Hyderabad or their representatives.

Prof. B J Rao, Vice-Chancellor, welcomed the delegation and spoke about the activities of Research, Teaching, Student Exchange, Faculty Exchange, collaborative academic projects, being undertaken in the University. Prof. Rao, also highlighted how a relatively young University like University of Hyderabad, could carry out such significant research and other academic activities.

Prof. Chetan Srivastava, Director, Office for International Affairs, University of Hyderabad, gave an overview of the Internationalization at the University of Hyderabad and emphasized on how the University was not only as a part of NEP 2020’s Internationalization, but also how the University followed the internationalization since its inception, so as to reach out to the global education hubs. Prof. Srivastava said that, the Office for the International Affairs is acting as an agent in connecting, networking and catalysing.

All the Deans, Directors and their representatives, introduced their Schools and discussed exploring further collaborations and exchanges. Asia University is strong in the fields of Engineering and Medical sciences and is ranked among the top universities in the world. Both the universities decided to explore areas where they could collaborate and apply for projects as part of the Indo-Taiwan initiatives.

The idea is to strengthen the present linkages between Indian and Taiwan and explore collaboration opportunities and new strategic partnerships in the context of N.E.P. 2020. Besides scaling up researchers’ mobility between Taiwan and India. Dr. Alok Mishra, Associate Director, Office for International Affairs, proposed a formal vote of thanks.
