Dr. Aditya Deshbandhu, PhD Communication (2013-17, under the supervision of Prof. Usha Raman) and MA-Communication (2010-12) from the Department of Communication, SN School of Arts and Communication at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) has been appointed as a Lecturer in Digital Media Sociology – Communications at University of Exeter, United Kingdom. Aditya will begin his role at the University of Exeter from the 1st of August 2022.

Dr Aditya Deshbandhu

Prior to joining Exeter, Aditya was an Assistant Professor in the communication area at the Indian Institute of Management, Indore (March 2019-April 2021). Aditya’s research interests include new media studies, digital cultures, the various conceptions of the digital divide and the emerging field of video game studies. He is also the author of Gaming culture(s) in India: digital play in everyday life (Routledge, 2020). Apart from his academic research Aditya has also been writing the weekly column Game-On that features in Telangana Today for the last five years.

A University kid who was raised on campus, Aditya has earlier been involved with the community radio station – Bol Hyderabad and has often taught a few sessions at the Communication department. We wish Aditya the best in this journey and hope that his experiences at UoH’s vibrant and scenic campus serve him well in his endeavours at Exeter.
