Akurathi Jaya Naga Sri, a PhD scholar under the guidance of Dr. Anjana S at the School of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Hyderabad (UoH) has been awarded the M. N. Das Memorial Young Scientist Award 2025. She received this prestigious honor along with a cash prize of ₹20,000 for the research paper “Modelling and Analysis of Right-Censored Competing Risks Data with Error-Prone Covariates.” which is a joint work by Akurathi Jaya Naga Sri and Dr. Anjana S.

The award was presented during the 27th Annual Conference of the Society of Statistics, Computer, and Applications, held at North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, Meghalaya, from February 21-23, 2025.

The research focuses on modeling survival data when covariates are subject to measurement errors. Survival data arise in fields such as medical studies, clinical trials, actuarial sciences, reliability engineering, and epidemiology. This study introduces statistical estimation methods and significance testing procedures for error-prone survival data, along with a real-life application using data from the Women’s Interagency HIV Study (WIHS).

Previously Akurathi Jaya Naga Sri has received A. M. Mathai Prize for the best paper for the joint work titled” Semiparametric regression analysis of competing risks data with missing causes of failure and covariate measurement Error.”

She is also a recipient of the Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (PMRF).
