Alambana, a thematic dance presentation, conceived, choreographed and designed by Prof. Aruna Bhikshu, head, Department of Dance, University of Hyderabad (UoH) and performed by the students of the Department of Dance, UoH on 23rd July 2019 at Savitribai Phule – DST Auditorium.

Alambana means abode or support. This Alambana is a visual narrative of the University of Hyderabad which is an abode of knowledge, growth and sustenance. 

The choreography involves an allegoric representation of the narrative through the classical dance vocabulary. Alambana is an attempt to put forth an artistic visual imagery of the panorama of the University of Hyderabad. The narrative includes various depictions of intra-personal and inter-personal interactions and relations with both physical and academic environment through a series of episodes.

It begins with the students’ journey into the campus followed by their interaction with the physical environment, discovery of favourite foods, academic endeavours, encountering distractions and conflicts, resolving of the stress by a collective effort, rejuvenation and a successful step out.
