Nandini Nayar, an alumnus of the Department of English, School of Humanities, University of Hyderabad (UoH) book, “Are there Bun Shops in the Jungles of India and Other Secret Stories from History”, has been awarded the Binod Kanoria Award for Children’s Literature.
This book was previously on the shortlist of the Author Awards and was awarded a Certificate of Excellence.

Are there Bun Shops in the Jungles of India and Other Secret Stories from History is a collection of historical stories. Based on extensive research into the hunting and capture of animals in India in the 18th and 19th centuries, this one-of-a-kind collection presents readers with accounts of real animals that were captured in India and shipped to England, to be displayed in menageries and later, zoos.
About the Author
Nandini Nayar is the award-winning author of over 75 books for children of all ages. Her picture books have been published in India, USA, the UK, Pakistan and Canada.
