Blessy Mathew, a PhD scholar from the Department of Political Science, School of Social Sciences, University of Hyderabad (UoH), working under the supervision of Dr. Anagha Ingole, presented a paper titled ‘Politics of Refugee Policy in India: Refugee Representation and the Political Negotiation of Refugees Status by Indian Governments,’ under the theme of “Migration, Governance and Diaspora” at the Fourth Annual International Migration Conference – “Mobility in Changing World: Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Management, Social Dynamics and Environmental Sustainability” conducted at O.P. Jindal Global University, Sonipat, Haryana, on 14th and 15th December 2024.

This conference was jointly organised by O.P. Jindal University and the International Institute of Migration and Development (IIMAD). It was supported by IOM-UN Migration (IOM) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The conference encompassed critical discussions on migration’s intersections with climate change, resource management, ecological sustainability and migration’s social, economic, and cultural dimensions. The deliberations also emphasised the implications of migration for governance, policymaking and sustainable development. This two-day conference brought together leading global experts, scholars and policymakers to foster dialogue on critical issues surrounding migration challenges and solutions in a rapidly changing global landscape.
