A Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid training session was conducted at the University of Hyderabad by Apollo Hospitals on 16th May 2023 in the University Health Centre. BLS is a level of medical care which is used for patients with life-threatening illnesses or injuries until they can be given full medical care by advanced life support providers. It includes recognition of signs of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA), heart attack, stroke, and foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO); cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR); and defibrillation with an automated external defibrillator (AED).
The session was held for children of employees of the University and about 40 of them had first-hand experience of BLS and First Aid training. Prof. B J Rao, Vice-Chancellor of UoH graced the occasion and complimented the University Health Centre for organising this informative and important session for the youngsters. He advised the young participants to concentrate on both aspects of body health and mental health which is important for their overall growth.
