A One Day Colloquium was organized by the Centre for Folk Culture Studies (CFCS), School of Social Sciences, University of Hyderabad (UoH) on 4th December, 2024 on Fitness Culture: Life and Lores (Artistic and Academic Perspectives).

The keynote address was delivered by Dr Aloysius Sebastian, Assistant Professor, University of Allahabad. Other speakers were Prof. Samarkumar Das, Department of Chemistry, UoH, Prof Bhim Singh, Department of Hindi, UoH, Prof Yashoda Thakore, University of Silicon Andhra, California, Dr Sindhuja, Assistant Professor, University of Silicon Andhra, California, Dr Aswathy Rajan, Assistant Professor, Rajagiri College’s Centre for Excellence in Indian Knowledge Systems, Dr Mallesh Edugani, Ms Nimisha Narayanan, research scholar, Department of Dance, UoH, Ms Vamsi Madhavi and Mr Mallikarjun, yoga master, UoH.

The speakers shared fitness through ages, personal anecdotes, fitness for dancers, ways to overcome injuries though yoga and other exercises and personal experiences with diseases and how individuals took care of their body through personal interventions.

The session was chaired by Prof Joly Puthussery, Head of the Centre, and coordinated by Mr Nijil Valiyodath, Assistant Professor, CFCS, Ms Dhruba Nanda Roy and Mr Sreerag who are research scholars at the Centre.
