Prof. Ramdas Rupavath, faculty in the Department of Political Science at the University of Hyderabad delivered the constitution day lecture titled “Constitutional Values: Contemporary India” at the CSIR – National Geophysical Research Institute (CSIR-NGRI), Hyderabad.
In the function held at the administration building of the NGRI, Dr. Prakash Rao, Director, Dr. Sunder Raju, Senior Scientists, Dr. Yellappa, Dr. Naveen Kumar, Principle Scientist, Registrar, senior officials, staff members and students of the NGRI paid floral tributes to Dr. B.R Ambedkar.
In his address, Dr. Prakash Kumar spoke about the great social reformer, Dr. Ambedkar who dedicated his entire life for the upliftment of the deprived sections of the society. He further added that Dr. Ambedkar besides being a social reformer is also a great statesman and the Chairman of the drafting committee of the Constitution which provides constitutional guarantees and protection on a wide range of civil liberties for the Citizens of this country.
Dr. Ramdas Rupavath while addressing the participants said, “The constitution day has significant national importance. I wish we will grow in the spirit of those constitutional values and imbibe them in our daily personal, social and political lives in order to find truth about India that our fore fathers laid down their lives for us to live in an independent country which is a Sovereign, Socialist, Secular and Democratic Republic.” “The Constitution starts with word WE and it’s all of us who constitute an integral part of our country – India/Bharat. Our country assures all of us certain rights and it’s our duty to resolve to follow the constitution of India”, he added. While concluding his address Dr. Rupavath said, “Our country is built on five important pillars – Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic, Republic and four sub-pillars: Liberty, Equality, Fraternity and Integrity”.
