Reona Shinam, PhD scholar from the Department of Anthropology, University of Hyderabad under the supervision of Dr. Alok K. Pandey participated in the International Studies Association (ISA) Asia-Pacific Region 2023 Conference: Global Role of Asia-Indo Pacific in International Relations: Anthropocene, Peace and Security.

The conference was held from August 8-10, 2023 at Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan. She attended the conference to present a Research Paper titled “Creating a Home by the Female Migrant of Northeastern States in Hyderabad City, India” in the Panel “Global Economy, Patriarch and Gender in South Asia”. The research paper focuses on northeast migrants in Hyderabad city, working in the unorganized service sector. Building on the concept of affective labor, this paper highlights the experiences and conditions like precarity and gender discrimination faced by migrants in the workplace.
