Nischaya- civil services society, University of Hyderabad in association with UGC-HRDC, UoH successfully conducted its maiden talk session of the monsoon semester titled ‘Decoding Bureaucracy: Civil Service Exam and Beyond’ with IAS D Krishna Bhaskar, Commissioner, Ministry of Industries and Ms. M Sindhuja (AIR 458, UPSC CSE 2022). The event was graced by the honorable Vice-chancellor as a chief guest who put in the inaugural remarks. The guest of Honor for the session was IPS M Malkondoiah (Retd.) who has been a DGP, to the combined state of Andhra Pradesh.

The event was chaired by Prof. Prakash Babu, Director, UGC- HRDC, UoH, and Dr. Krishna Reddy Chittedi, professor at the School of Economics. The event commenced with a lamp-lighting ceremony by the Honorable Vice-chancellor and other esteemed guests to the event.

In his welcome address, Prof. Prakash Babu asserted that the HRDC office alongside Nischaya- the civil services society, a venture of integrated masters students has been committed to organizing events that benefit students across departments preparing for competitive examinations such as UPSC CSE. He stressed that sessions of this kind will continue to take place whenever needed provided the commitment on the part of students.

Prof. BJ Rao, Vice-Chancellor, in his inaugural address, acknowledged the society for its continuous academic activities in the interest of the larger student community and hailed the attendees for coming to the session in such a large number.  He highlighted the significance of the nomenclature (name) of the society ‘NISCHAYA’ emphasizing that it is difficult to find the exact synonym of it in any other language and the spirit of the term could be imbibed by students in their lives to enhance their performance. VC, moreover, appreciated the organizing team members of Nischaya for taking such an important initiative and recalled his interest in the civil services examination during his college days. He stated that all possible support from the side of the university administration will be provided to the society in the smooth conduction of its future events.

Dr. Krishna Reddy Chittedi, faculty co-ordinator to Nischaya expressed his gratitude towards the honorable VC for taking some time from his busy schedule and attending the session. He espoused the hard work and effort that has been put in by Nischaya to conduct much-needed events which is helpful to many of the students.

The guest of honor for the session IPS Malkondoiah (Retd.) shared his valuable experience of services and applauded the opportunity provided by All India Services. He said that the students of the prestigious university are capable of clearing the toughest of examinations provided the proper guidance in the right direction.

The keynote speaker for the session Ms. M Sindhuja (AIR 458, CSE 2022) who has recently cleared the examination deliberated on the strategy to overcome the challenges and changing nature of the UPSC CSE examination. She asked the students to prefer multiple revisions over choosing different books.

D Krishna Bhaskar IAS interacted with the students and explored the reason behind their interest in the examination. He cleared the clutter from the goals and objectives of the civil service today. The session was followed by a brief Q&A session with the students.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Gauree Nautiyal, an Integrated Health Psychology student. She thanked the Vice-chancellor, Director of UGC-HRDC, Faculty-coordinator to Nischaya, and keynote speakers for making the event a success. She further credited the co-ordinator of the society Abhigyan Ranjan, Abhidha Anil, Anwesha Sharma, Saran Ravipati, Sampoorna Panigrahi, Shaurya Ranjan, Vaishnav Arun, Hadi Muhammad KK, Vinay Kumar, Dhrana Akash, Madav Ram, Maheswari for their hard work behind the scene.
