Devina Sarwatay, a Research Fellow and PhD Student under the guidance of Prof. Usha Raman, at the Department of Communication, University of Hyderabad, is participating in the ongoing 70th Annual International Communication Association (ICA) Conference from 20th to 26th May, 2020. This conference was going to be held in Australia and, due to COVID19, is now being held virtually on an all-in-one online event platform.

Her paper, ‘Can We Design Open Research to Include Children and Parents in Co-Writing?’, was selected for presentation in the Children, Adolescents, and Media (CAM) division of ICA and has been mentored by Prof. Nancy Jennings, Department of Communication, and Director, Children’s Education and Entertainment Research (CHEER) Lab, University of Cincinnati and Chair, CAM division.

Devina is also chairing a session, ‘Family Life in a Digital Age’ with Prof. Sun Sun Lim, Head of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, Singapore University of Technology & Design (SUTD), as the discussant. Articles in this session are on topics like parental mediation, parent-child communication on technology use, and sharenting, by scholars and researchers from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven / Letteren, University of Vienna, Purdue University, The University of Arizona, University of California, Berkeley, among others.

Her participation in this conference has been generously supported by the Communication And Technology (CAT) division of ICA which awarded her a grant that covers her conference registration fees and related expenses.
