Dr. Shiva Ram Male, graduated PhD Scholar from the School of Medical Sciences in March 2023 presented his Ph.D work at the ARVO-2023, New Orleans, USA Followed by Global Mentorship Programme in Vision Sciences and Ophthalmology.

Dr Shiva Ram Male, who completed his Ph.D Health Sciences – Optometry and Vision Sciences from the School of Medical Sciences presented his seminal work “Global Prevalence of Colour Vision Deficiency -A systematic review and Meta-analysis”  at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO-2023, New Orleans, USA from 23rd to 27th April-2023. He also completed the related Global Mentorship Programme under Padma Shri awardee Prof. Dr Natarajan Sundaram, an Eminent Ophthalmologist of India during the same time.

The Global Mentorship Program’s main aim is to support and sustain junior researchers’ interest, focusing on professional development within the field and engaging in ARVO towards vision sciences and eye care ophthalmology.

Dr Shiva Ram completed his Ph.D under the Research Supervision of Prof. B R Shamanna, Professor, late. Dr. Rishi Bhardwaj, School of Medical Sciences and Co-Research supervisors Prof. Chakravarthy Bhagvati and his doctoral committee members Dr Rashmin Gandhi, Centre for Sight Hospitals, Hyderabad and Dr Baskar Theagarayan, University of Huddersfield, UK.

The whole research supervision team of Mr Shiva Ram and Prof. Geeta. K Vemuganti, Dean School of Medical Sciences, and other School faculty members complimented Mr Shiva Ram for this achievement. It was felt that this is substantial motivation for scholars who are pursuing the doctoral program at the school. Incidentally Dr.Shiva Ram is the first Ph.D scholar in OVS stream to complete his program which started in the year 2017.
