Distinguished Lecture on Politics of the Urban Poor by Professor Veena Das

The School of Social Sciences, University of Hyderabad organized a Distinguished Lecture titled Politics of the Urban Poor by Professor Veena Das on 11th January 2013 at the DST Auditorium.

 Prof. Veena Das, Social Anthropologist / Sociologist while giving distinguished lecture said about the daily lives of the poor persons who deal with different levels of problems and their solutions. Professor Das said that the way they work at the legality of land where they stay, which is considered unauthorized by the Revenue Department. The people made the place livable / habitable by their hard-work and labour investment, said Prof. Das. The perspective of the officials is different in terms of people who live in these places, added Prof. Das.
