Dr. D.K. Sunil, an alumnus of the University of Hyderabad, who received his doctorate from the Centre for Advanced Studies in Electronics Science and Technology (CASEST), University of Hyderabad (UoH) in April 2019, was appointed as Director (Engg. and R&D) at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Defence.

Dr. Sunil’s doctoral work, under the supervision of Prof. Samrat L. Sabat, proposed new Spectrum Sensing algorithms and evaluated the sensing performance in real time for cognitive radio.
As Director (Engineering and R&D) of HAL, Dr Sunil will be the Functional Head of all R&D centres of the HAL he will manage and ensure effective and efficient implementation of all Research & Development (R&D), Design & Development (D&D), Project Development and development of new products and technologies.
Dr. Sunil has been a member of DGCA external expert committee for certification of Hindustan-Dornier 22 Aircraft.
