Dr. Manjari Kiran, Assistant Professor, Department of Systems and Computational Biology, School of Life Sciences, University of Hyderabad (UoH) was selected to participate in the 2nd Shanghai Cooperation Organization Young Scientists Conclave at Bengaluru, Karnataka, from 6th to 10th February 2023. This 8-nation conclave has been planned, per the direction of the DST, India, to offer a unique platform for Indian scientists to establish research collaborations in Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) among the SCO member states.

Twelve young scientists from 4 SCO nations discussed the challenges under the thematic area of “Artificial Intelligence and Big data research and applications” wherein she presented her work on “Machine learning-based models to discover prognostic biomarkers and genetic interactions in Gliomas.” The prognosis and cancer treatment worldwide are primarily based on the caucasian population making it difficult even to validate the developed model on an independent dataset. She expressed the need for data transfer among SCO nations for better model development and validation.
