The University of Hyderabad (UoH) alumna, Dr. Mridula Ashwain has been presented with the Achievers’ Award on the Occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8, 2022. The award was jointly presented by Hope Advt. Pvt Ltd, South Indian Cultural Association, Sujanaranjani & Sampradaya. Mridula received the award from Sri Ranjith Reddy (Hon’ble Lok Sabha MP – Chevella) and Seetha Reddy (Director, SR Group) who were the chief guests of the program at Shilparamam.
Mridula was one among the three women selected for this Award, for achieving Doctorate in Sanskrit at a young age, overcoming many obstacles. Mridula also regularly takes part in Vakyartha Sadas (one among very few women Sanskritists who currently perform this), a traditional Sanskrit forum of discussing Shastrartha. She was appreciated for her participation in the Mahila Vakyartha Sadas, at the International Conference on Churning of Indology, held at Udupi in 2019 by Bharatiya Vidvat Parishad.
Dr. Mridula has received her doctorate in Sanskrit from the University of Hyderabad under the supervision of Prof. J.S.R. Prasad and Prof. Korada Subrahmanyam in March 2021. She was an SRF sponsored by the UGC. She is an accomplished musician trained under the tutelage of Brahmasri Kollegal R. Subramaniam. Also, Mridula participatd along with her group in a special event – A Musical Treat by Women organized by the above institutions and sang popular vaggeyakra kritis.
