Dr. S. Venugopal Rao, Professor at Advanced Centre for Research in High Energy Material (ACRHEM), University of Hyderabad (UoH) has been Awarded the Top Peer Reviewer Award 2019 by Global Peer Reviewer Awards powered by PUBLONS for three categories of (a) Physics (b) Chemistry and (c) Cross-field on 17th September, 2019.
Dr. S. Venugopal Rao has more than 25 years of research experience in the field of experimental Ultrafast Nonlinear Optics, Photonics, and Spectroscopy. He had obtained his Master’s and Ph.D. degrees from University of Hyderabad, India in 1994 and 2000, respectively.
He has published 1 book, 10 book chapters, and more than 250 papers in refereed international journals/conference proceedings, presented more than 150 papers in various international/national conferences. He has given more than 60 invited talks at various national/international conferences/meetings. His papers have more than 4959 citations (GOOGLE SCHOLAR) with a h-index of 40. Seven students have graduated under him and eight more are working in his group. He has successfully established state-of-the-art ultrafast laser laboratories at ACRHEM, University of Hyderabad. His research interests include detection of explosives using the techniques of SERS, LIBS, CARS etc. and ultrafast laser-matter interaction.
He has been selected as a Fellow of the Institute of Physics, UK in 2019. He is the recipient of Chancellor’s award for year 2016 from University of Hyderabad and the NASI-SCOPUS award for the year 2012 in Physics category. He has also been elected as SENIOR MEMBER of prestigious organizations such as Optical Society of America (OSA), SPIE, and IEEE. He is a Fellow of the Telangana Academy of Sciences and Associate Fellow of the AP academy of Sciences. He is now serving as an Associate Editor of the journal RSC Advances. He is a member of permanent editorial board “Review Editor” for the journal Frontiers in Physics (Optics and Photonics section).
