Dr. Sai Amulya Komarraju, who received her doctorate from the Department of Communication, S N School of Arts & Communication, University of Hyderabad (UoH) in May 2021, was appointed as Assistant Professor in the communications area at the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
Dr. Komarraju’s doctoral work, under the supervision of Prof. Usha Raman, explored how feminism was understood and negotiated with in daily life, including the ways in which young people learned about feminist ideas and how self-identified feminists saw it shaping their parenting. After graduation, Dr. Komarraju received a competitive post-doctoral grant from the Southern Centre for Inequality Studies at Witwatersrand University, South Africa, which funded an inquiry into men in platform-based care work and the feminization of labour.
At IIM-A, apart from contributing to teaching, Dr. Komarraju will develop a research agenda that furthers her interest in platformization and the gendered dynamics of the future of work (ers) and more broadly in feminist communication studies, critical masculinity studies, and digital cultures.
