Dr. Sajaudeen Nijamodeen Chapparban, the UoH alumnus, who worked with Prof. J Bheemaiah, in the Department of Comparative Literature, School of Humanities, University of Hyderabad (UoH) for his Ph.D. and currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Centre for Diaspora Studies at Central University of Gujarat, has been selected to participate in the prestigious 2024 Scheidt Family Summer Seminar on Genocide Studies and Prevention at the University of Connecticut, USA.
He has also been invited to present his research in the 9th International Conference on Genocide, Genocide and Survivor Communities: Agency, Resistance, Recognition at the USC Dornsife Center for Advanced Genocide Research, University of Southern California, Los Angeles, USA.
The news comes as a testament to Dr. Chapparban’s expertise and dedication to the field of migration and diaspora studies with special focus on contemporary issues in forced migration and genocide studies and prevention.
The first program is scheduled to take place from 9-14 June 2024 at the University of Connecticut. Both programmes were highly competitive. The organizers received numerous applications from highly qualified professionals worldwide, highlighting the global interest and commitment to addressing critical issues related to genocide. Dr. Chapparban’s stood among the world’s only 20 selected scholars in this field. The 2024 Summer Seminar aims to bring together scholars, educators, and activists from diverse backgrounds and academic disciplines to delve into crucial discussions surrounding genocide studies and prevention strategies. Dr. Chapparban’s participation underscores the international collaboration and interdisciplinary approach crucial in addressing such complex societal contemporary challenges. Dr. Chapparban will join a cohort of twenty participants from ten different countries, enriching the seminar’s discussions with a broad spectrum of perspectives and experiences. The seminar, scheduled from June 9th to June 14th, will provide a platform for in-depth dialogues, networking opportunities, and collaborative initiatives in the field.
He is also invited to present his research focusing on South Asia with special reference to Myanmar at the 9th International Conference on Genocide, Genocide and Survivor Communities: Agency, Resistance, Recognition at the USC Dornsife Center for Advanced Genocide Research, University of Southern California, Los Angeles, USA.
Dr. Chapparban’s selection not only reflects his academic prowess but also highlights Central University of Gujarat’s commitment to promoting scholarship and research in areas of global significance, such as migration, diaspora, genocide studies and prevention and interdisciplinarity.
