Dr. Shiva Ram Male, Assistant Professor from the School of Medical Sciences, University of Hyderabad presented his research work titled “Role and Benefits of Bilingualism in Indian Low Vision Impairment Children” at the CoGsci-2024, Cognitive Science Society Conference in Rotterdam, Netherlands from July 24th to July 27th.

Dr. Shiva received a Hardship waiver grant from the Cognitive Science Society and was chosen for the CogSci-Mentor Mentee programme-2024. He was joined by Prof. Christian Kemp, a renowned cognitive scientist from the Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences, and mentees Annika Tjuka from the Max-Planck-Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology and Mingtong Li from Cornell University in the USA.

Dr. Shiva also attended the Affinity Group session “Asia-Pacific Cognitive Science Group”, which provided networking, experience sharing, community building, and mentorship opportunities for Asian scientists working in cognitive science and associated multidisciplinary fields.

The Cognitive Science Society’s major mission and vision is to bring scholars from all over the world together to work towards a shared goal: understanding the nature of the human mind. The Society’s aim is to promote Cognitive Science as a discipline and to encourage scientific exchange among academics in a variety of fields, including Artificial Intelligence, Vision Sciences, Linguistics, Anthropology, Psychology, Neuroscience, Philosophy, and Education.
