Dr. Sujitha Pombala, an alumnus elected as an Executive Council Member of the Federation of Asian Biotech Associations (FABA). She has made remarkable contributions to the field of biological sciences, demonstrating a strong academic foundation and earning numerous accolades. She earned her Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from CSIR – Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, India (2015), where she focused on microbial biosurfactants and their applications as novel functional biomaterials. She holds an M.Sc. in Biotechnology from the University of Hyderabad, where she was awarded the University Medal (2009). And She is the Founder of UCHA Herbs Pvt Ltd, a company dedicated to innovative solutions in biotechnology and natural product research.

Her academic journey has been distinguished by prestigious fellowships and grants, including the CSIR Doctoral Research Fellowship, UGC – Dr. DS Kothari Postdoctoral Fellowship, Nidhi Prayaas Prototype Development Grant (DST, 2023), and the American Society for Microbiology – Future Leaders Mentoring Fellowship (2023). She has also received the International Travel Support Grant from SERB-DST (2023) and was honored as a Fellow of the Eurasian Academy of Environmental Science (FEAES). Additionally, she has been a member of UNESCO’s Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD). Beyond her research excellence, Dr. Sujitha has held significant leadership roles, serving as Chairman of Overseas Operations and President of the Andhra Pradesh Chapter of Microbiologists Society India. She is also deeply involved in mentorship and scientific publishing, serving as an Editorial Board Member for the World Journal of Pharmaceutical Research, a Reviewer for Bentham Science Publishers, a Maarg Mentor for Startup India, and a Mentor for the Women Entrepreneur Platform (WEP), Government of India. Additionally, she is empaneled as an Academic Counsellor for IGNOU, Delhi, India.
