Dr. Sujitha Pombala, an esteemed alumna of the University of Hyderabad (HCU), has been honored with the prestigious Achievers Award by the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World – National Chapter of India (OWSD-NCI).

Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), a programme unit of UNESCO, is the first international forum to unite and recognize eminent women scientists from both the developing and developed worlds, with the objective of strengthening their role in the development process and promoting their representation in scientific and technological leadership.

This prestigious award was presented at the event organized by the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World – National Chapter of India (OWSD-NCI), in collaboration with the Telangana Academy of Sciences (TAS) and Mahavir Hospital and Research Centre (MHRC) as part of the international Women’s Day Celebrations on March 18, 2025, in Hyderabad.

The occasion was graced by distinguished dignitaries, including Professor Kaiser Jamil, President of OWSD-NCI; Professor A. Jyothy, Vice-President of OWSD-NCI; Dr. Ch. Mohan Rao, President of the Telangana Academy of Sciences; Mr. Mahendra Ranka Ji, Chairman of Mahavir Trust; Dr. Mahtab Bamji, INSA Emeritus Scientist, Dangoria Charitable Trust, Hyderabad and Director Grade Scientist (Rtd), ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad and Smt.
