Dr. Ummen Sabu, an alumnus appointed as Assistant Professor at NIT Calicut

Dr. Ummen Sabu is an alumnus of School of Engineering Sciences and Technology and completed his M.Tech in Materials Engineering (2013-2015) under the guidance of Prof. Dibakar Das. His M. Tech thesis work won the prestigious Malaviya Award from the Indian Ceramic Society. The research work was carried out jointly with ARCI Hyderabad and Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory (DMRL, DRDO).

He later completed his Ph.D. in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from IIT Madras. Prior to joining NIT Calicut, he was working as a postdoctoral research fellow at Clemson University in South Carolina, United States.
