Dr. Vinaykumar, faculty in the School of Chemistry, University of Hyderabad (UoH) has been selected as one of the Thieme Chemistry Journals Awardees 2025! The Thieme Chemistry Journals Award is presented every year to up-and-coming researchers worldwide who are in the early stages of their independent academic career. The awardees are selected exclusively by the editorial board members of Thieme chemistry journals who constantly watch out for promising, young individuals working in chemical synthesis and catalysis or closely related areas of organic chemistry.

Dr. Vinaykumar
Dr. Vinaykumar obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Organic Chemistry from an affiliated college of Andhra University before completing his Ph.D. at IISER, Bhopal. He pursued two consecutive postdoctoral studies at Loyola University Chicago, USA, and IIT Bombay, India. In 2019, he began his independent research career at NIPER-Hyderabad as a DST Inspire Faculty, later serving as a SERB Research Scientist.
In 2024, he joined the School of Chemistry, University of Hyderabad, as an Assistant Professor. His research focuses on transition-metal-catalyzed C–H functionalization and ring-strain release strategies. He has published his work in well-reputed international journals such as Organic Letters, Chemical Communications, and The Journal of Organic Chemistry.
