The Junior Science Club (JSC) of the College for Integrated Studies (CIS), University of Hyderabad, hosted its much-anticipated ABCDEF—A Bunch of Cool Demos exhibition on the ground floor of CIS on 6th March 2025. Conducted as part of the National Science Day celebrations, the event transformed the space into a vibrant hub of scientific exploration, attracting an overwhelming 500+ visitors from various disciplines, including psychology, economics, geology, life sciences, mathematics, physics, and chemistry.
From 2:00 PM onwards, the exhibition saw a continuous influx of students and faculty, eager to witness the fascinating demonstrations put together by 46 dedicated demonstrators. The event featured a diverse range of experiments and interactive exhibits, such as Mini Galaxy, Chemical Chameleon, Black Rain, Vivid Clouds, Spinfinity, The Slytherin Swing, the Ames Room illusion, Monty Hall Problem, and many more. These demonstrations not only simplified complex scientific concepts but also encouraged hands-on engagement, making learning an immersive experience.
Professors from various departments visited the exhibition, expressing their enthusiasm and appreciation for the initiative. Students from the arts and social sciences also found the event to be a phenomenal and eye-opening experience, highlighting the interdisciplinary appeal of science. The interactive nature of the exhibition ensured that visitors remained engaged throughout, with thought-provoking discussions, live experiments, and exciting challenges adding to the dynamic atmosphere.
A special note of gratitude goes to Prof. G. Manoj Kumar, ACRHEM, University of Hyderabad, the founder of the Experiments Forum, whose guidance and support played a crucial role in shaping this exhibition. His vision for making science accessible and engaging continues to inspire students and educators alike.
The event, which continued till late evening, was a resounding success, reinforcing the power of curiosity-driven learning. The Junior Science Club takes immense pride in organizing such initiatives that bridge the gap between disciplines and inspire students to explore the wonders of science beyond the classroom. The overwhelming participation and enthusiasm showcased at ABCDEF 2025 serve as a testament to the growing scientific spirit at CIS, promising even greater endeavours in the future.
