The Department of Plant Sciences, School of Life Sciences, University of Hyderabad (UoH) takes pride in announcing that four of the Ph.D. Students from the Department received the best oral/poster awards for the work presentation made at the recently concluded (September 21–23, 2022), 62nd Annual International Conference of the Association of Microbiologists of India (AMI) organized at University of Mysore, Mysore, Karnataka. Two students each from the laboratories of Prof. Appa Rao Podile and Prof. Ragiba Makandar received best oral/poster presentation awards during the valedictory function of the conference.
Best oral presentation awards were received by Mr. PVSRN Sarma and Mrs. Ch. Danteswari (both working with Prof. Appa Rao Podile) –
Mr. Sarma PVSRN, under “Microbiomics” for his research presentation entitled “Impact of chitinous substrate amendments on the rhizosphere microbiome of rice” and
Mrs. Danteswari Ch, under the theme of “Host-microbe interactions” for her research presentation entitled “Plant state nested with soil type are key factors shaping pigeonpea root microbiome”.
Best poster awards were received by Ms. Mssarat Fatima and Ms. Priyambada (both working with Prof. Ragiba Makandar) –
Ms. Mssarat Fatima, under the theme of “Agricultural Microbiology” for her poster entitled “Identification of putative effector genes of Fusarium graminearum with a role in virulence through in-silico and gene expression studies”
Ms. Priyambada, under the theme of “Agricultural Microbiology” for her poster entitled “Identification of molecular markers for powdery mildew resistance in pea (Pisum sativum) to identify potential donor for Hybridization”.
The Head of the Prof. S. Rajagopal congratulated all the four students for the excellent performance in such a big conference and expressed his joy for bringing four best prizes for one Department.
