The Department of Education and Education Technology, University of Hyderabad in collaboration with the Indian Association of Teacher Educators (IATE) organised a two-day IATE’s 55th National Conference on “Global and National Concerns of Teacher Education” from 30-31 December 2022. The Conference was inaugurated on 30th December 2022 morning at the Auditorium, School of Life Sciences, University of Hyderabad. In the inaugural session, Prof. Ghanta Ramesh, Visiting Professor, MANUU and NCTE Member, SRC in his message emphasized that educating teachers is playing a pivotal role in changing the education system in India. Later Prof. Mohammad Miyan, President, IATE and Former Vice-Chancellor, MANUU, Hyderabad, President of the inaugural session expressed that in the context of NEP 2020 which emphasizes on teacher education; this conference is more relevant in the present context. Prof. K. Ramachandran, Senior Advisor, Unit for International Cooperation, (NIEPA), New Delhi delivered the Keynote address. Using his vast experience as a member of the NEP 2020 reiterated that the role of teacher education should enter into new heights by imbibing old and new techniques that benefit the upcoming teachers in the field of education. Prof. R Limbadri, Chairman, Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE), Hyderabad was the Chief Guest in the inaugural session.
Prof. B.J. Rao, Vice Chancellor, University of Hyderabad in his inaugural message expressed that “Teachers make Societies and Nation” and he has appreciated the Department of Education and Education Technology and IATE for making such a thorough proving and academic program happening at UoH which is one the institutes of National Importance. Prof. B.R. Kukreti, General Secretary, IATE released the Conference Souvenir and Conferred IATE Award of Eminence to Dr. Krishnaiah, Professor and Principal, IASE R.V. Teachers College, Bengaluru and Prof. Nimma Venkata Rao, Vice Chancellor, Dr.B.R.Ambedkar University, Srikakulam. Dr. Ravula Krishnaiah, Organizing Secretary and Assistant Professor, Department of Education and Education Technology, University of Hyderabad proposed the vote of thanks. He said that this conference is a “True deliberation with educators from throughout the country to pool their academic knowledge and provide solutions to Teacher Education in academic circles” and National Committee of Indian Association of Teacher Educators (IATE) has expressed thanks to University of Hyderabad for their support and collaboration.
On 31th December 2022 the Valedictory Function was held at the Auditorium, School of Life Sciences, University of Hyderabad. In the Valedictory Chief Guest Prof. Syed Aimul Hasan, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, MANUU expressed that this conference is one of its kind on Teacher Education in the Light of NEP 2020 & he said the nation needs many more such conferences understanding how Teacher Education is Important. He has emphasized that the Role of Guru plays a vital role and every guru has a voice that brings a change and our voice is NEP 2020.
Later Prof. R.S. Sarraju, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, University of Hyderabad said that in the context of NEP 2020 which emphasizes on teacher education, this conference is more relevant in the present context as teacher shapes nation. In the Valedictory Prof. Sanjeev Sonawane, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Savithribai Phule, Pune University, Prof. Ghanta Ramesh, Visiting Professor, MANUU and NCTE Member, Prof. Bhubanaswar Lakshmi, Dr. Geetha, Dr. Jalandarachari, and Dr. T Sumalini proposed the vote of thanks.
Dr. Ravula Krishnaiah, Organizing Secretary and Assistant Professor DEET expressed his thanks to University of Hyderabad, IATE and all the funders and the volunteers of the conference for their support and collaboration. As part of the IATE’s Annual conference more than 150 faculty members from 40 Universities and 200 Research scholars across the nation are attending this conference.
