Bharti Airtel and Hyderabad Runners along with University of Hyderabad (UoH) on Sunday, the 17th of February 2013 organised the first ever “Airtel Hyderabad University Half Marathon”.
The Half Marathon was flagged off by the Vice Chancellor, HCU and Dr. Murli Nannapaneni, Chairman, Hyderabad Runners at 6:15 am, followed by the 10 K run at 7:00 am and then the 3K Fun Run amidst cheers from friends and families.
The Marathon was flagged off from the University of Hyderabad Open Dias, one of the most prominent and Central location of the University and went through important landmarks like the Yoga Center, Sports Complex, Primary School, Post Office, International Hostel, VC’s Residential block amongst others. The scenic beauty of the campus added delight and cheer for the participants as well as supporters and well-wishers.
Invitation to participate was also extended to Corporates and Schools – the marathon saw over 700 enthusiastic runners who embraced this first of its kind opportunity marking a milestone in the University’s record books.
This Marathon was supported by Hyderabad Runners , a not for profit society formed in 2007, and one of the largest running groups in India with more than 1000 members cutting across age, gender, profession and social strata along with Bharti Airtel.
