The hands on training program on Histology and Immunohisto / cytochemistry was conducted at the Skill Development Centre, School of Life Sciences, University of Hyderabad during 18-24 April, 2022.

At the inaugural session, Prof. S. Dayananda (Dean, SLS) and Prof. Arun Kumar Kota (Head i/c, Department of Animal Biology) emphasized the need of initiating skill based programs across the country and urged the students to be employment ready by the time they obtain degrees.

On a one to one basis, the participants learnt the basics of isolating tissues, embedding, sectioning, staining and photographing in a microscope. Further, they performed cryosectioning and immunohistochemistry on the tissues sections prepared by themselves. Extensive interactions between the resource persons and the participants ensued that the technique is learnt in detail.

 

The primary resource person was Prof. B. Senthilkumaran, Department of Animal Biology, and was assisted by Dr. Mamta Sajwan Katri and Akanksha Pranoty.

Prof. Suresh Yenugu, assisted by his doctoral students PriyankaPriyadarshini and Suresh Babu Munipalli co-ordinated the training at the skill development centre.
