‘The Flight – Up Up & Away’, an exhibition put together by the outgoing students of the Department of Fine Arts, Sarojini Naidu School of Arts and Communication, University of Hyderabad (UoH) was an impressive one. Inaugurated on 1st May 2014 the exhibition is open from 2 – 4 May 2014 from 10am to 8pm.
The exhibits are an initiative to reach out to the world by the final year students as they move up step by step bracing themselves for the final take off … to fly away far & near horizons … new & unknown pastures; to spread their wings and soar higher & higher … leaving behind trails of their presence on the premises which was their creative abode for two years. These students have been together at UoH for the last two years even though they all come from across the country, a diversity that shows distinctly in their art. The participating artists come from Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Assam, West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Chandigarh, and Chhattisgarh.
The show will include recent works of the students that are displayed and include extending practices like painting, print-making and sculpture. Some of the artists have also integrated mixed media, embroidery, performance, motor induced mechanisms, sound and video projections to enhance the visual experience.
The artists who are participating in the exhibition include Abhilash Simhachalam, Afza Tamkanat, Anjaneyulu Chenamoni, Arka Bhattacharya, Atindra Bag, Barun Mondal, Chandan Roy, Debadutta Sahu, Dhiraj Pednekar, Diana Gomes, Diptej S Vernekar, Faiza Hasan, Girishchandra Behera, Jagadeesh Reddy, Kalidas Mohan Mhamal, Kartar Kemro, K. Sai Sheela, Manali Rawat, Monica Nanjunda, Monika Bijlani, Nageshwar Rao Bokkili, Prajeesh Ad, Purbalakshmi Borah, Radhika Ramamurthy, Rajesh Lakkoju, Saheli Basu, Sandip Mahali, Santu Mondal, Sayan Gupta, Shajil Padiyoor, Shekar Shinde, Sijina V. V, Soma Das and Sujeesh Onchery.
