The Office for International Affairs, University of Hyderabad in its endeavour to welcome the newly joined International Students and orient them towards the Academics and Life at University of Hyderabad, has organised an Orientation Programme and Cultural Evening on 8th November, 2023.

Prof. Chetan Srivastava, Director, Office for International Affairs couldn’t attend the programme due to bereavement in family on same evening, he sent his wishes and message for the newly joined students, welcoming them to the University of Hyderabad and assured them of all the possible support and help during their stay in the University of Hyderabad.

Prof. Alok Kumar Mishra, Associate Director, Office for International Affairs, welcomed the cohort of international students and scholars for the Orientation Programme and Cultural Evening,

The event, held at the Seminar Hall, SIP building, was graced by the presence of esteemed dignitaries, which included the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof B.J. Rao, Registrar, Dr. Devesh Nigam, Controller of Examinations i/C, Sri Thukaram, Director R&D Prof Samrat L. Sabat, Psychological Counsellor Dr. Hymavathi and other key university officials.

The program began with the lighting of the Lamp by Prof.BJ Rao, Vice-Chancellor. signifying the festival of lights, Diwali, that was being celebrated the same weekend. The whole premises wore a festive look with the dazzling diyas and lighting.

Prof Alok Kumar Mishra, welcomed the dignitaries and gave his opening remarks, where he spoke on the University, the Office for International Affairs and the facilities available for the International Students at University.

Prof.BJ Rao, Vice-Chancellor, welcomed the newly inducted international students, gave his advice on how to gain the most from their stay at University of Hyderabad. He also assured them of all the possible support and guidance from the University of Hyderabad.

Dr. Devesh Nigam, Registrar, addressed the students and gave them valuable guidance for the smooth and secure stay at University of Hyderabad.

Shri. Tukaram, Controller of Examinations i/C, in his address to the students gave them the details on the examination procedure and other academic details for their study at University of Hyderabad.

Dr. Hymavathi, Psychological Counsellor, in her address spoke about mental health and the impact it can have on our academic and social wellbeing. She was open to receiving students to talk about any issues that they may have during their course of stay in the University.

Other dignitaries gave their valuable guidance and support with a series of informative sessions.

The formal orientation session was then followed by a vibrant cultural evening with performances showcased by the International Students. It included songs, traditional dances, a ukulele performance, poetry recitals, a flute performance, a solo skit and many more. These cultural events added a lot glitter and also gave the tint of vibrant cultural diversity and integrity at University of Hyderabad.

This cherished and memorable orientation programme concluded with a sumptuous dinner that was attended by all the guests, the students and the staff of the Office for International Affairs.
