A team from IPB University, Bogor, Indonesia, consisting of Prof. Dr. Ir. Ernan Rustiadi, Vice-Rector for Research, Innovation and Agromaritime Development, Prof. Dr. Edi Santosa, Plant Ecologist and Psychologist, accompanied by Dr. Bharath K Alam, ICAR-CRIDA, Liaison Officer G20 Summit visited the University of Hyderabad on 08th September 2023.
The delegation met Prof. B.J. Rao, Vice Chancellor, UoH, discussed possible collaborations and briefed the Deans and Directors of various Schools on the opportunities for further joint activities. Prof. N. Siva Kumar, Dean of the School of Life Sciences and Prof. Rajagopal, Head of the Department of Plant Sciences, gave a brief about the teaching, courses, research activities, lab facilities and Aspire BioNEST of the School of Life Sciences. Prof. Ghanshyam Krishna, Director IoE and Prof. Samrat L Sabat, Director of the R&D cell, spoke about the University’s activities and growth in academic research and emphasised on interdisciplinary research.
 Prof. Alok Kumar Mishra, Associate Director of OIA and faculty of the School of Economics at UoH, briefed about the internationalisation of Education by focusing on International Mobility, academic collaboration in terms of joint degrees and diplomas, Joint project collaborations, student exchange between the Universities, designing of the customised summer, spring and fall short term programme. Prof. Mishra highlighted and encouraged the IPB delegations to initiate the process of MOU and MOA between the universities and the corresponding schools to strengthen the collaboration between India and Indonesia.
 Prof. B.J. Rao emphasised the commonalities between the countries regarding culture, heritage, and history and hoped that the collaboration between both universities would be expanded to benefit the students and faculty.
IPB University, Indonesia is the first and the largest agricultural university in Indonesia. It was established on Sept 1, 1963, and was formerly known as Bogor Agricultural University. With about 33,318 student body, 1,410 faculty staffs, the University is one of the top rank in the subject of Agriculture and Forestry in Southeast Asia. It is ranked #449 in QS WUR 2023 and #112 ASIA QS WUR 2023.
Later, the delegation held an information-sharing session with faculty members at the School of Life Sciences, led by Prof. Rajagopal, Head of the Department of Plant Sciences. The Office for International Affairs coordinates the delegation’s visit, represented by Prof. Alok Kumar Mishra.
