The University of Hyderabad is proud to announce that Roshita K. Padmini, a 6th-year Integrated M.Optometry student, has been awarded the Student Support Grant by the Inter Society Color Council (ISCC), USA. The grant, valued at $1,000 USD, recognizes Roshita’s outstanding research and will assist her with travel and logistical expenses for conferences and furthering her dissertation work.

Roshita’s dissertation, titled “Visual and Sensory Experiences in Autistic and Non-Autistic Individuals Using Psychophysical Color Models,” is conducted under the research supervision of Dr. Shiva Ram Male, Assistant Professor at the School of Medical Sciences. Her work delves into the nuanced interplay between visual perception and sensory experiences in neurodiverse populations using advanced psychophysical approaches.

Congratulating Roshita on her achievement, Prof. Geeta K. Vemuganti, Dean, School of Medical Sciences, said, “This recognition from a prestigious international body like the ISCC highlights the caliber of research being conducted at UoH. We are immensely proud of Roshita’s accomplishments and wish her continued success.” The Optometry faculty also extended their heartfelt congratulations.

About ISCC
Inter Society Color Council is an organization that encourages color research, education, and scholarships, and facilitates the interchange of scientific, educational, artistic, aesthetic, and technical knowledge of color to the general public. It also is aimed at the academic and professional growth of individuals interested in color. ISCC has made a commitment to support student activities in programs that entail and encompass color science, education, art and design or technology in US colleges or universities. Hence, it has established the ISCC Student Support Program to assist undergraduate and graduate students with activities pertaining to color.

The ISCC has established a Student Grant Review Board which has jurisdiction over the program to formulate guidelines and review proposals from students requesting support. Meritorious proposals recommended for funding by the ISCC Review Board are forwarded to the Board of Directors of the ISCC for final approval.
