Kummarikunta Alekhya, a PhD scholar at the Centre for Applied Linguistics and Translation Studies (CALTS), presented a research paper at the 9th International Conference on Appliable Linguistics. This prestigious event was hosted at the Martin Centre for Appliable Linguistics, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, from November 8–10, 2024. Alekhya’s research journey is guided by Rtd. Prof. Bhimrao Bhosale and Dr. Nagaraju Mandly, Associate Professor at CALTS.

As a globally recognized institution ranked 45th among the world’s top universities, Shanghai Jiao Tong University provided an intellectually stimulating platform for researchers and scholars. The conference was preceded by a three-day Symposium on ‘Systemic Functional Language Description’, held from November 5–7, 2024, offering an enriching prelude to the main event.

Alekhya presented her paper titled, “Translation of Educational Text of Economics: A Comprehensive Framework of Translation Model” where she explored innovative approaches to translation studies, particularly in the context of educational materials. During the conference she had the opportunity to attend keynote sessions led by internationally renowned experts in linguistics, gaining valuable insights into emerging trends and methodologies.

One of the highlights of her experience was exchanging ideas with fellow researchers from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, fostering a collaborative spirit that is essential in advancing applied linguistics and translation studies.
