An IoE Distinguished lecture on “General financial rules, purchase procedure through GeM, RTI Act and handling Public Grievances” by Shri Ch V Sai Prasad, IA & AS, Director (INDT), O/o DGA (C), Hyderabad was organised for the Deans, Senior officers and staff of the University of Hyderabad on 16th December 2024.

Prof. BJ Rao, Vice Chancellor while presiding over the lecture said, “As GoI servants we need to respond swiftly to the complaints registered. A thorough understanding of the system is needed in order to dispose of the same effectively”. Dr. Devesh Nigam, Registrar introduced the distinguished speaker. Shri Ch Sai Prasad’s lecture at the University of Hyderabad shed light on the intricacies of the GFR purchase procedure, with a special emphasis on the GeM portal, RTI Act, and handling public grievances.

Prasad elucidated the General Financial Rules (GFR) that govern procurement processes in government institutions, highlighting the importance of transparency and accountability. He also delved into the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal, an online platform that facilitates procurement of goods and services by government departments.

The lecture also touched upon the Right to Information (RTI) Act, which empowers citizens to seek information from government institutions, promoting transparency and accountability. Prasad emphasized the significance of handling public grievances effectively, ensuring that institutions respond promptly to citizen queries and concerns.

By sharing his expertise, Shri Ch Sai Prasad equipped the audience with a deeper understanding of the GFR purchase procedure and its associated aspects, fostering a culture of transparency and accountability in institutional procurement processes.
