Dr. Habeeb Nisar the senior most serving faculty member in the Dept. of Urdu, University of Hyderabad (UoH) in terms of continuous service has been conferred with the Dr Mohiuddin Quadri Zor Lifetime Achievement Award for Research & Criticism for his overall contribution to the Urdu Literature and Studies by the Telangana Urdu Academy. He is an alumnus of this university and has achieved the PG and Ph.D degrees from the UoH itself. He has also been a Post- Doctoral Fellow in the Dept. of Urdu. He is such a vivid scholar of Urdu literature who has very clear understanding of classical Indian music. It is the basic reason of him choosing this particular field for his area of research for Ph.D degree.

He has got a dozen book published into his credit varying into different area of Urdu studies and research. Among these books, he has edited a 450 years old literary masterpiece named as “Kharga Nama” (word Kharga is derived from Sanskrit meaning Khadag or Sword, It is used in Telugu too). His one of the prominent works is on the Kitab-e-Nauras written by Ibraheem Adil Shah II of the famous Adil Shahi Dynasty. He has also focused on the poetry and literature during Bijapur Sultanat in one of the books named Bijapur ka Sher-o-Adab. This is the first book on Bijapur’s Urdu Literature so far. Apart from this Dr Habeeb Nisar has compiled two books. He is well known for his expertise in the area of Deccani Literature and studies. His articles and other writings are frequently published in reputed and leading Journals and magazines not only in India but in abroad too.

So far 06 students have been awarded Ph. D and 42 M. Phil degrees under his supervision.
