Dr. Seshu Latha and her disciples mesmerised the audience during a Carnatic Vocal concert at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) organised under the Campus Concert Series on October 16, 2014 (Thu) at the DST Auditorium.
Dr. Latha’s concert titled “Nada Sudha Tarangini” kept the audience spellbound. The concert started with Varnam Vanajakshi in raga Kalyani composed by Ramnad Srinivas Iyengar. This was followed by the melodious rendition of Jaya Jaya Swamin in Raga Hamsadhwani composed by Sri Narayana Teertha, Thyagraja’s compositions- Sitamma Maa Yamma in Vasantha Raga, Mutyaala chavikelo in raga Hamir Kalyani and Varaleela Gaana Lola in Sankarabharanam. The artistes also recited compositions by Sri Bhadrachala Ramadasa, Sri Annamacharya, Sri Purandardasa and Kaivaaram Sri Yogi Narayana. The recital captured full involvement of the University community as they were completely immersed in the joy of divine music.
Dr. Latha was accompanied by Sri. Ramaraju Dinakar on Violin, Sri. K. Subramanyam on Mridangam and Sri. Gunaranjan on Tabla. Her students Smt. K.V. Lakshmi, Smt. Sudha, Smt. K. Lalita vijaykumar, Smt. Madhumathy, Smt. Tejaswini, Ms. Ramyasree, Ms. Sravani were on vocal support.
Dr. Seshu Latha Kosuru started learning music first under her mother Smt.Sarada and later from well-known artists like Sri Chodavarapu Subba Rao, Late Sri Voleti Venkateswarulu and currently her guru is Sangeetha Kalanidhi Sri Nedunuri Krishnamurthy. Her educational qualifications include B.A and M.A in music and Ph.D in carnatic music, Sangeet Alankaar from Akhila Bharatiya Gandharva Maha vidyalaya, Maharashtra, and Sangeeta vidwaan from Madras Music college.
Dr. Latha is graded with B high in classical and light music by AIR . She had given number of performances in India, USA, UK, Singapore and Malaysia, the most prestigious one being the Madras Music Academy concert. She has worked in many prestigious institutions like Sri Potti SreeRamulu Telugu University and Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society (SIFAS). She has sung and composed songs for many albums. She is also an acting judge for music competitions organised by TV channels and Music associations.
