4 students from UoH among the 8 students chosen from all over India for SIPIS – 2013 and another student gets six months research attachment

 The Department of Physics of the National University of Singapore (NUS) has invited Harshavardhan Reddy Pinninty and G M Gopikrishnan, Integrated MSc Physics students and M. Sandeep and Manohar Prasad, M.Tech students of the University of Hyderabad (UoH) to participate in summer internship programme SIPIS – 2013. The students shall be at National University of Singapore from 15 May 2013 to 12 July 2013. During the programme, the students will be introduced to NUS research environment, interact with NUS professors and complete a project that is related to on-going research.

Harshavardhan Reddy Pinninty (Integrated MSc Physics) will work on a project – NLO properties of pure and doped graphene materials under Dr. Ji Wei at the Graphene Research Centre, NUS Singapore.

G M Gopikrishnan (Integrated MSc Physics) will work on a project – Nano fabrication and lithography under Dr. Van Kan Jeroen Anton.

M. Sandeep (Integrated M.Tech./Ph.D – Nano Science and Technology) will work on a project – Graphene based metal oxides for Li-Ion battery applications under Dr. M V Reddy.

Manohar Prasad (M.Tech IC Technology) will work on project – Lab on a chip under Dr. Andrew Bettiol.

SIPIS is targeted at Indian graduate students (M.Sc. or M.Tech.) who will be in their 1st year or completed their M.Sc. or M.Tech. The NUS takes care of the travel, accommodation and other expenses of the students.

Meanwhile Shaikshavali Petnikota, a PhD student from School of Engineering Sciences and Technology working under Dr. V.V.S.S. Srikanth has been selected for 6 months research attachment for carrying research on Graphene based Anode Materials for Li Ion Batteries at Advanced Batteries Laboratory, Dept. of Physics, NUS under Dr. M V Reddy and Dr. R V V Chowdhari. Earlier he had the opportunity to work in this laboratory as a summer internship student as part of SIPIS – 2012.
