The University of Hyderabad’s Central Seminar Hall, East Campus, played host to a mesmerizing evening of dance and science on March 12, 2025. Natyagyanam, the flagship event of the Junior Science Club (JSC), was a celebration of intellect, rhythm, and imagination.

The event began with a welcome note by Aniruth Sreenivasan, JSC Coordinator, followed by a captivating welcome song by Vibha Sangita Krishnakumar. The presence of Prof. B. J. Rao, Vice Chancellor, UoH, as the Chief Guest, along with esteemed faculty members Prof. Sanjay Subodh, Director, CIS, Prof. Vipin Srivastava, former Pro-Vice Chancellor, UoH, Prof. Manju Sharma, Associate Director, CIS, and Prof. Aruna Bhikshu, HoD Dance, SN School of Arts and Communication, added to the grandeur of the occasion.

The evening featured six stunning performances that blended science and dance:

1. Ananya Tumaney’s ‘Mathematical Aspects of Odissi Dance’
2. Pranay Bharatraj’s ‘Tanmay: A Dance of Mind and Motion’
3. MS Amulya and Divya’s ‘Dancing on the Edge’ (Kuchipudi)
4. Uday Bharath, Srijani Basu, Yashitha Murali, and Sanchi’s ‘Vriksha: The Dance of a Tree’s Life’ (Kathak)
5. Nandhanaa, Nivedhitha, and Gowri Murali’s semi-classical dance on ‘Natural Elements’
6. Malavika Sreenivasan, Nayana, Anugraha, and Gowri’s performance on ‘Multiple Personality Disorder’

From the graceful sway of a tree to the delicate balance of motion, from the whispers of the mind to the silent symphony of mathematics, each performance told a story that science alone could not express, and dance alone could not explain. The hall pulsed with energy as every movement unfolded the mysteries of the universe, one step at a time. Aniruth Sreenivasan and Vibha Sangita Krishnakumar, charismatic hosts, guided the audience through this journey of wonder. Each performance told a unique story, weaving science and dance together in a captivating narrative. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Suvan RJ, JSC Coordinator.

Natyagyanam was a testament to the power of interdisciplinary collaboration, showcasing the beauty that emerges when science and art come together.
