A three-day conference cum workshop titled ‘New Vistas in Drug Discovery, Design, and Delivery’ commenced on October 4, 2023, at the Seminar Hall of the School of Life Sciences (SLS), University of Hyderabad (UoH). The event was inaugurated by Prof. B. J. Rao, the Vice-Chancellor of UoH, and was jointly organized by the Department of Systems and Computational Biology (DoSCB), School of Life Sciences (SLS) and CRESSET Biomolecular Discovery, UK.
In his opening remarks, Professor B. J. Rao expressed that ‘New Vistas in Drug Discovery’ will always stay ‘new’ due to the inherent flexibility of protein structures that accommodate drug molecules, which is significantly influenced by their surrounding environment.
The first day of the event was dedicated to invited talks by the scientists from pharmaceutical companies, academic institutions, software developers, and health science agencies covering a wide spectrum of topics ranging from artificial intelligence in drug discovery, medicinal chemistry, nanotechnology in drug delivery, molecular docking, to multimodal data aggregation. The second and third days were dedicated to the hand-on workshop sessions that enabled the participants to learn molecular docking techniques using CRESSET software.
Prof. H. A. Nagarajaram, Head, DoSCB, SLS briefed about the seminar and Prof. N. Shiva Kumar, Dean, SLS welcomed the gathering.
Dr. Moumita Saharay from DoSCB, SLS proposed the vote of thanks at the inaugural session.
Institution of Eminence (IoE), UoH and CRESSET sponsored the event. Dr. Moumita Saharay and Dr. Pramod Rajaram from DoSCB, SLS coordinated the event.
