Ms. Nimisha Narayanan, PhD scholar under the supervision of Prof. M S Siva Raju, Department of Dance, Sarojini Naidu School of Arts and Communication, University of Hyderabad (UoH) presented a paper titled, “Aesthetics of Agni: Movement Analysis in Indian Performing Traditions” at the Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR) sponsored Two-Day International Seminar held at the Bhawanipur Education Society College, Kolkata on 7th November, 2024.
The theme of the seminar was Bharatavarshya Communication Tradition: From the Prehistoric Ages to the New Millenium. The seminar was organized by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, The Bhawanipur Education Society College, Kolkata in association with the Indian Communication congress.
Nimisha’s paper dealt with the themes of Agni in the Vedic era rituals to its usage in the ritual and folk performing traditions of India. The paper analysed how the element of fire also becomes a character aiding in storytelling and inspires movements based on the character of the fire.
Her paper was awarded the best paper among the offline paper presentations. She is grateful to her professors Dr M S Siva Raju and Dr Joly Puthussery who have been a constant source of inspiration and motivation for her.
