The NSS Winter Special Village Camp at Lakdaram, organized by the NSS Cell of the University of Hyderabad (UoH), commenced on December 15, 2024, in Lakdaram village, Patancheruvu Mandal. After reaching the village, the NSS volunteers participated in a procession through the village streets to raise awareness among the residents about the objectives and activities of the camp.

Sri Medisetty Srinivas, a soial activist, formally flagged off the procession. During the procession, the volunteers chanted slogans focused on education, cleanliness, health, Clean India, Green India, the dangers of drug abuse, cyber crime and the importance of environmental conservation.

Dr. B. Krishnaiah, the NSS coordinator, and Dr. Bhimsingh, the NSS program officer, held discussions with the village elders to understand the local issues.

They particularly addressed concerns about the environmental impact of nearby stone-crushing industries, which have led to poor air quality in the area. In the afternoon, the volunteers were divided into groups for cultural activities.

They practiced the Lakshya Geeth (the NSS song) and the National song of NSS.

A few volunteers took the opportunity to explain the significance and meaning of these songs to their fellow participants. This activity was part of the camp’s efforts to promote both social awareness and cultural enrichment.
