The Department of Political Science, University of Hyderabad has organized an one-day webinar on “Institutional Response to COVID-19” on 30th May 2020. Dr. Harathi Vageesgan, faculty member, NALSAR National Law University and Dr. Mahi Pal, IES (Retd) were the invited speakers for the webinar.
The webinar was started with the opening remarks by Prof. Manjari Katju, Head of the Department, Political Science. In her opening remarks she said that Covid-19 has become a issue of the multiple institutions in the world and need of hour is concrete action plane to control the virus as well as well being of the people. Prof E. Venkatesu while introducing the speakers said that the civil society organisations and local body institutions is having vital in the facing the pandemic. Both the speakers presented ground level analysis. Dr. Vageeshan expressed his views on problems faced by migrants during this pandemic and stressed on the role of state and civil society in handling the situation. Dr. Mahi Pal presented grassroots level experiences and initiatives of Panchayat Raj Institutions during Covid-19 pandemic. The webinar was insightful and thought provoking.
The three-hour webinar was attended by 517 participants ranging from academicians, professionals, executives, civil society activists, media persons, research scholars and students from different parts of the country. Mr. Gowd Kiran Kumar, senior research scholar proposed the vote of the thanks to the webinar at the end.
