Prof. Panchanan Mohanty, faculty in the Centre for Applied Linguistics and Translation Studies (CALTS) at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) has been given the PANDIT GOPINATH NANDA ESSAY AND CRITICISM AWARD for 2014. This award is given by Utkal Sahitya Samaj at Cuttack, established in 1903. It is one of the oldest literary institutions in India.
Recently Justice Amitava Roy, the Chief Justice of the Odisha High Court presented this award to Prof. Mohanty.
Prof. Mohanty works in the areas of Language Teaching and Testing, Psycholinguistics, Phonology, Morphology, Language Typology, Computational Linguistics, Quantitative Linguistics and Translatology.
